Trainees may not tell you, but you already know

You Are Not Alone


If the answer is “No!” don’t feel left out.


Most learning programs are a series of logical, sequential
talking points designed to the lowest common denominator
and lacking in emotional content.


This makes it really difficult for you to reach your learners;
to move them emotionally; to create within them a passion
for the behavior change you session teaches.


Negativity Abounds


Unfortunately, most of the emotion present in learning environments is negative.


For many adults, learning requires admitting a lack of knowledge, in a strange room, in front of new people, to an instructor not yet met. When you factor in adult memories of poor school experiences, required attendance and hostility towards leadership, it’s a wonder adults learn anything at all.


Wanted: Positive Emotional Content


Many things in life create negative emotion. Entertainment is uniquely designed to create positive emotion.


Hollywood has years of experience moving people to emotional reactions. The entertainment industry knows how to entice people into paying to see the same film over and over again. Disney has repeatedly demonstrated the magic touch in pixie-dusting learning. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could elicit that same response?
